PVCu out Timber in

What was the background to the project?

We live in a 1950’s house with a modern extension in a village within the ring road. We always felt that the house had been let down by its PVC windows which whilst they were perfectly functional, did not add anything to the look or feel of the property. When we looked at surrounding houses that were of a similar market value we realised they all had smart wooden windows, and recent newspaper articles advised that new windows added significantly to a property’s value and saleability. We decided that the windows would not only improve the house in terms of look and energy efficiency, but would be a good long term investment.

Why did you choose Jack Brunsdon & Son products?

We had read about the relaunch of Oxford Double Glazing as Jack Brunsdon & Son and were keen to use a local company with a proven track record. After a visit to the local show room we had a good idea of the windows we wanted and decided to visit the Blenheim show room on an open day to confirm our choices. Some mocked up photoshop examples of our house with a few different styles helped us make the final choice. We wanted solid wooden windows that would add character to the property without compromising on light.

What has been your reaction to the finished job?

The teams at Jack Brunsdon were without exception very professional and committed to delivering a quality service.  They always arrived on time and did what they promised, and dealt with any questions promptly and efficiently.  They worked quickly and tidily and I was amazed how little disruption there was to our daily life even though the windows were fitted in a particularly wet January. We are delighted with the finished product. The difference in the look and feel of the house exceeds our expectations. We thought the main improvements would be in the external view of the house, but in fact the whole ambience of the house inside has improved – it feels like a more solid, quality structure and the rooms have more character and no draughts!

As the house looked before...

...and after!
